Insulating Oil Testing

When You Need It

Routine condition monitoring, acceptance testing on new or rebuilt units, and investigation after a fault or an alarm.

What's Included
  • Sample collection with documented chain of custody.
  • Dielectric breakdown voltage testing.
  • Acidity, interfacial tension, colour, and moisture content.
  • Dissolved gas analysis, compared against previous samples.
  • Results interpreted against the applicable guide, not just reported as raw numbers.

High-Potential (Hi-Pot) Testing

When You Need It

Commissioning, verification after a repair, and periodic proof testing of an insulation system.

What's Included
  • Applied-voltage withstand testing of the insulation system.
  • Insulation resistance and continuity checks before the test begins.
  • Controlled ramp, hold, and discharge to a documented procedure.
  • Pass or fail recorded against acceptance criteria agreed before testing.
  • Isolation, grounding, and site clearance procedures followed throughout.

VLF Testing

Very low frequency — typically 0.1 Hz.

When You Need It

Acceptance and maintenance testing of shielded power cable, where a DC hi-pot would risk damaging the insulation.

What's Included
  • Very low frequency withstand testing of shielded power cable.
  • Optional partial discharge or tan-delta measurement during the test.
  • Cable identification, isolation, and grounding before energisation.
  • Results referenced to the applicable field-test guide.
  • Fault location follow-up where a cable fails the withstand test.
